Fort Lowell museum group tours

Groups of 10 + visitors will receive discounted rates on private museum & walking tours.

Visitors will learn about:
- The history of Fort Lowell, as well as about the soldiers, scouts, and their families who lived there
- The people who have lived in the area from 600 C.E. to the early 1900’s and why they chose the area
- The hospital and medical practices of the time
- The geography and the environment of the area
For an additional $3/person you may add on one of the following demonstrations (Must be requested at least 2 weeks before your scheduled tour)

- Killers in the Home-Learn about the hazardous (often fatal) chemicals of pre-FDA Fort Lowell—put in household dyes and soaps!
- History of Baseball-Learn about the history of baseball at Fort Lowell. These 1860s baseball games are still reenacted at Fort Lowell Park today!
- Communication in Territorial Times- Explore how people stayed in touch during territorial times using the telegraph and heliograph
- Territorial Tucson Women (1854-1912): A docent will give a 15-minute presentation about one of the women listed below.
- Soledad Jacome, a Mexican seamstress, property owner, and single mother
- Maria Wakefield Fish, the first trained schoolteacher in Tucson
- Lola Cole Smith, wife of the quartermaster at Fort Lowell, circa 1880.

All group tours must be booked at least one week in advance. The number of people attending must be guaranteed three days before the event by 3 pm. This guarantee number is the minimum amount you will be charged when your group arrives. Full payment is due the day of the tour.
Groups that enter with an outside tour company or walking tour guide must pay the group admission rate per person. Guides and tour companies must pre-schedule a tour with a docent, the Presidio and Fort Lowell Museums will not guarantee a docent tour unless groups are scheduled in advance.
