Docent Tours

Enjoy a docent-guided tour of the museum. You will learn what life was like in the area prior to European contact as well as when Fort Lowell was active, 1873-1891. You may hear stories about soldiers, their families, civilians, and the local indigenous people.
Storytime With The Littles

11:00 am-12:00 pm, on the third Saturday of each month.
Included with regular admission or free with a family membership.
A member of our Education Department will read a short story that will be followed by a hands-on themed activity. This is perfect for children 4-7 years old but is open to children of all ages.
March 21, 2026, “Roxaboxen”

Marian called it Roxaboxen. There across the road, it looked like any rocky hill—nothing but sand and rocks, and some old wooden boxes. But it was a special place. And all children needed to go there was a long stick and a soaring imagination.
April 18, 2026, “The Three Little Javelinas”

Have you ever heard the story “Three Little Pigs”? Did you know that the “Three Little Javelinas” have their own story? Join a Fort Lowell staff member for a reading of the “Three Little Javelinas” followed by an activity related to the story.
The museum has a toy box as well as coloring sheets, crayons, and paper for drawing.
Coffee With A…

10:30-11:30 a.m., on the first Saturday of each month
Included with regular admission or free with a membership.
Join us for a casual conversation and/or tour with an expert in their field (ex: Coffee with a Historian, Coffee with a Naturalist, etc…). Check back for more information.
April 4, 2026, Coffee with a Naturalist: Tucson Bird Alliance will discuss the local spring bird migration followed by a bird walk. Recommendations: Comfortable shoes, water bottle, hat, and sunscreen.
