Most of these two-hour programs are ideal for third and fourth grade students, but youth of all ages will enjoy the programs and are welcome to register unless otherwise noted. One adult chaperone is required to register, pay, and attend the workshop for every four children. All programs are held on Mondays and are $5 per person. (If less than five students register for any workshop, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the workshop. You will be notified ahead of time if this occurs.)

Early People

Learn about the indigenous people in the Tucson area from prehistoric to modern times through a series of hands-on activities/presentations that may include:
**Throwing and atl-atl
**Making dye from Cochineal
**Flintknapping.

Archaeology

Have you ever wondered what archaeologists do? You will learn about the job of an archaeologist through a variety of hands-on activities that may include map making and artifact analysis. Limited to youth ages 9 and up.

How Did They Do That?

What did the people in 1775 (Indigenous and Spanish) use to build their homes and make their tools?  Participants will learn about the Sonoran environment and how it affects the world we live in.  Activities will focus on sustainable living practices that are being re-learned today and may include:

**Tool making
**Water harvesting
**Blacksmithing
**Native gardening techniques

Art of Tucson

Participants will learn about the art and culture of some of the people important to the growth of Tucson, including the indigenous, Mexican, and Chinese cultures. Activities may include creating petroglyphs, making papel picado, designing your own alebrijes, or making Chinese dragons.
