* Trip to Presidio Santa Cruz de Terrenate and Fairbank Townsite Feb 23 8am
Meet at the Presidio at 8 a.m. Departure at 8:15 a.m. Return to Tucson mid-afternoon.
Led by archaeologist Homer Thiel. Our “sister” Presidio of Terrenate was constructed near the West bank of the San Pedro River in 1775. It lasted only five years and suffered from isolation and raids. Homer Thiel will describe what life was like. We will have lunch under the cottonwood trees at the remains of the town of Fairbank. We will carpool.
