The Apache (N’de) people influenced many aspects of Tucson residents lives for well over two centuries. Despite this, in the popular narrative of Tucson’s history, the Apache are frequently given little attention. Tucson Presidio Trust board member and historian Mauro Trejo will discuss the significance of the Apache in our history. He will discuss the ways in which the Apache are frequently omitted and their importance to the narrative for a more accurate and better understanding of our past.
Mauro Trejo is a 7th generation Tucsonan descending from Elias’s and Gallegos. Mauro has a passion for local history and has poured over the Tucson “classics” to learn as much as possible. Before becoming a Presidio Trust Board Member he volunteered as a docent and walking tour guide (which he still does), becoming one of our most knowledgeable.
