Salon & Saloon: The Life and Times of Father Kino
Presenter: Father Greg Adolf
Saturday, Feb. 17, 2 pm
$5/person at the door

Father Adolf will discuss the life of Padre Eusebio Francisco Kino (1645-1711), a Jesuit missionary who came to New Spain in the 1680's. Kino set out on his life's greatest adventure: the evangelization of the Pimeria Alta people in the modern borderlands of Sonora and Arizona. Padre Kino bridged cultural borders as he was welcomed by the desert-sharing O'odham people into their homes. Kino was a pioneer-explorer, historiographer, cartographer, cowboy rancher and peacemaker. He put heart and soul into the twenty-one missions he founded, traveling 50,000 miles on horseback before his death in Magdalena, Sonora, in 1711.
