Author Annette Gray will discuss her well-researched story of Sheriff Johnny Behan, including the Civil War wrath brought upon the small community of Westport, Missouri; Behan’s journey on the Sante Fe Trail; and his life as the first sheriff of Cochise County during the shootout at the OK Corral in Tombstone.
Gray spent her early life as a teacher, rancher’s wife, bookkeeper, and mother of five. After her children left home, Grey devoted her free time to writing numerous newspaper articles, short stories, and poetry. She has eight books to her credit, including Westpoint’s Tarnished Star: In Defense of Johnny Behan–First Sheriff of Cochise County, and has been a guest speaker at historical events in Arizona, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Texas, and Canada.
