Master Heritage Gardener Dena Cowan is also the Presidio Museum’s Heritage Gardens Manager and Foodways Instructor.  In this workshop, Cowan will discuss the astoundingly versatile and resilient prickly pear plants all around us, both domesticated and wild varieties.  She’ll also focus on their importance to humans through history and their future potential, uses and health benefits, as well as how to grow, harvest, prepare and process as them as both vegetable and fruit.
