In 1889 outlaws attacked the Buffalo Soldiers to steal the payroll they were protecting. The trial and the award of the Medal of Honor to two of the Buffalo Soldiers reveal insights into the life and times of Tucson citizens and their military protectors at the end of the 19th century.
This lecture is presented by Dr. Michael S. Engs, an avid historian with a passion for the history of African people in the new world and the southwest, and Floyd Gray, adjunct faculty at the University of Arizona and a member of the Greater Southern Arizona Area Chapter of the Buffalo Soldiers.
