LIVING HISTORY DAY – Celebrating Arizona’s Statehood

Saturday, February 12

10 am – 2 pm

The Presidio Museum comes alive allowing visitors to get a feel for what it would have been like to be in the Presidio at its height of occupation in the late 18th century.Traditional demonstrations available throughout the event include blacksmithing, tastings of handmade tortillas, children’s games, soldier drills and firing of muskets and cannon and much more.

This month, in addition to our traditional demonstrations, Living History will include displays and demonstrations highlighting the history of how Arizona became a state from New Spain to the Mexican era to the Territorial period:

* 1912 Arizona National Guard Demonstration
* Lecture on Atanacia Santa Cruz Hughes given in full costume at 10:30 am and 11:45 am

* Folklorico performance by Danzacultura Mexicana at 11 am
* Travelers Tales demonstration focusing on Africans in Arizona in celebration of African American History Month

* Spanish music played by El Camino Ancho played throughout the event

This event is included in admission, which can be purchased at the door.
