This talk puts Fort Lowell in context. The fort was connected to Tucson, to Arizona, and to the U.S. It was a reflection of the young nation. The Fort was affected by national happenings and affected the political scene of the nation. Rick Collins will review the misery, the excitement, and the social aspects of Fort Lowell soldiers during the time the Fort was in operation.

Collins is a National Park Ranger at Tumacácori National Historical Park. He served 6 years as President of the Tucson Presidio Trust, serves on the Board of the Tubac Historical Society, and on the Board of the Empire Ranch Foundation. He creates exhibits and interpretive materials for the Tubac Presidio Historic Park. His job at Tumacácori includes researching the history and that opens the door to some fascinating stories.
